An arterial duplex ultrasound scan requires no preparation. You do not need to fast, maintain a full bladder, or stop any medications. Simply wear or bring clothing that allows easy access to the limb being examined.
The arterial duplex scan will evaluate the arteries of your extremities for any circulatory problems such as narrowing of the blood vessels.
The price of this scan is for one body part i.e one leg.

Please arrive 5 minutes early at 29 Weymouth Street, Marylebone, London W1G 7DB. The reception team will check you in and ask you to complete a brief patient history form.
The HCPC-registered consultant sonographer will review your symptoms, risk factors, and any previous vascular investigations. You will be asked to sign a consent form before the scan begins.
The sonographer applies ultrasound gel to the skin and performs greyscale imaging, colour Doppler mapping, and spectral waveform analysis of the relevant arteries. The scan is painless and takes approximately 25–35 minutes for a single limb.
The sonographer discusses the findings with you immediately after the scan. A full written report with annotated images is issued the same day by secure email. The report can be sent directly to your GP or referring consultant on request.

No fasting is required. You can eat and drink normally before your appointment. There is no need to change your diet or fluid intake in preparation for this scan.

Your written report with annotated images is issued on the same day as your appointment and sent to you by secure email. If you would like the report sent directly to your GP or referring consultant, please provide their contact details at the time of booking or at the clinic.
If the sonographer identifies a finding that requires urgent clinical attention — such as a critical stenosis or suspected acute limb ischaemia — they will advise you immediately and recommend that you contact your GP or attend A&E without delay. The written report will clearly flag any urgent findings.
