Every pregnancy scan is performed by Daniela Stan, a consultant-grade sonographer with over 20 years of experience in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound. All Private Pregnancy Scans

Six specialist ultrasound-scans covering every stage of pregnancy — from the first heartbeat to confirming your baby's position before birth.

Early pregnancy reassurance scan London — heartbeat confirmation from 6 weeks
From 6 Weeks

Early Pregnancy Reassurance Scan

Confirms the presence of a fetal heartbeat, gestational age, and pregnancy location — ruling out ectopic pregnancy. Ideal after IVF, previous miscarriage, or when you simply need reassurance in those anxious early weeks.

Dating scan London — accurate due date calculation at 10–14 weeks
10–14 Weeks

Dating Scan

Calculates your accurate due date using crown-rump length measurement, confirms fetal viability and heartbeat, checks for multiple pregnancies, and assesses the uterus and ovaries. Equivalent to the NHS 12-week scan.

Gender scan London — baby sex determination from 16 weeks
From 16 Weeks

Gender Scan

Determines your baby's sex with high accuracy from 16 weeks. The scan also assesses fetal wellbeing, fetal movements, amniotic fluid volume, and placental position — giving you a comprehensive mid-pregnancy check alongside the gender reveal.

Growth scan London — fetal biometry and wellbeing assessment from 24 weeks
From 24 Weeks

Growth Scan

Measures fetal biometry — head circumference, abdominal circumference, femur length, and estimated fetal weight — and plots these against standardised growth charts. Assesses amniotic fluid, placental position, and fetal movements. Recommended for high-risk or post-dates pregnancies.

3D 4D bonding scan London — see your baby's face from 26 weeks
26–32 Weeks

3D/4D Bonding Scan

Creates three-dimensional surface images of your baby's face, hands, and body in real time. The ideal window is 26–30 weeks when skin is well developed. Includes a growth and wellbeing assessment, gender confirmation if requested, and a keepsake package with DVD, printed images, and a 3D keyring.

Presentation scan London — baby position check from 34 weeks
From 34 Weeks

Presentation Scan

Confirms whether your baby is head-down (cephalic), breech, or transverse as your due date approaches. This is critical information for birth planning. The scan also assesses placental position, amniotic fluid, and fetal wellbeing — providing the clinical evidence your midwife or obstetrician needs.

When to Have Each Scan

Each pregnancy ultrasound-scan has an optimal gestational window. Booking at the right time ensures the most accurate and clinically meaningful results. The timeline below is a guide — your sonographer will advise on the best timing for your individual circumstances.

6–10 Weeks
Early Pregnancy Reassurance Scan
Confirms heartbeat, gestational age, and intrauterine location. Recommended after IVF, previous miscarriage, or bleeding.
10–14 Weeks
Dating Scan
Accurate due date calculation using crown-rump length. Confirms fetal viability and checks for twins. Equivalent to the NHS 12-week scan.
16–22 Weeks
Gender Scan
Sex determination with high accuracy. Also assesses fetal wellbeing, movements, amniotic fluid, and placental position.
24–36 Weeks
Growth Scan
Fetal biometry measurements plotted against growth charts. Assesses estimated fetal weight, amniotic fluid, and placenta. Can be repeated every 2–4 weeks in high-risk pregnancies.
26–30 Weeks
3D/4D Bonding Scan
Optimal window for facial detail. Baby's skin is developed enough for clear 3D surface images. Includes keepsake package.
34–40 Weeks
Presentation Scan
Confirms baby's position — cephalic, breech, or transverse. Essential for birth planning and midwife/obstetrician decision-making.

Why Choose a Private Pregnancy Scan?

Reassurance Without the Wait

The NHS does not routinely offer scans before 12 weeks. A private early scan at 6–10 weeks provides the reassurance you need during the most anxious stage of pregnancy.

Same-Day Appointments

Appointments are available Monday to Saturday, often on the same day you contact the clinic. No long waits when you need answers quickly.

Consultant-Grade Clinical Expertise

Daniela Stan has over 20 years of specialist obstetric ultrasound experience. Every scan is performed and interpreted by her — not delegated to a junior sonographer.

Detailed Written Report

You receive a comprehensive written medical report with annotated ultrasound images on the same day. This can be shared directly with your midwife, GP, or obstetrician.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a GP referral for a private pregnancy scan?
No referral is required. You can book any pregnancy ultrasound-scan directly online or by calling 020 3633 4902. Same-day and next-day appointments are usually available.
How early can I have a private pregnancy scan?
The earliest scan available is the early pregnancy reassurance scan, which can be performed from 6 weeks of gestation. Before 6 weeks, the embryo is too small to reliably detect a heartbeat. If you are unsure of your dates, contact the clinic and the team will advise the best timing.
Are private pregnancy scans safe for my baby?
Yes. All pregnancy ultrasound-scans use non-ionising sound waves — there is no radiation involved. Ultrasound has been used safely in obstetrics for over 50 years, and there are no known harmful effects on mother or baby when performed by a trained clinician. Sonoworld's sonographers follow BMUS guidelines on scan duration and exposure.
Can I find out my baby's gender at Sonoworld?
Yes. Gender determination is available from 16 weeks via the dedicated gender scan. Accuracy is very high at this stage. Gender can also be confirmed complimentarily during the 3D/4D bonding scan. If you prefer not to know the sex, simply let the sonographer know at the start of the appointment.
Can I have a private scan if I am already receiving NHS antenatal care?
Absolutely. Private pregnancy scans complement — not replace — your NHS antenatal care. Many patients use private scans for additional reassurance between NHS appointments, for gender determination, or for the 3D/4D bonding experience. Your Sonoworld report can be shared with your NHS midwife or consultant.
Can I bring my partner to the scan?
Yes. You are welcome to bring your partner, a family member, or a support person to every appointment. There is comfortable seating in the scan room so they can watch the scan on the large monitor alongside you.
What happens if something unexpected is found?
Daniela Stan will explain any findings clearly during the appointment. If a finding requires further investigation or specialist review, the written report will include clear guidance on recommended next steps and, where appropriate, a referral letter for your GP or obstetrician.
How much do private pregnancy scans cost?
All pregnancy scans are priced at £235. The 3D/4D bonding scan price is available on request. All prices are all-inclusive — there are no hidden charges for the report or images. Some private health insurance policies cover diagnostic pregnancy scans; check with your insurer before booking.
