About Daniela Stan
Daniela Stan is a London-based NHS and private Consultant Sonographer with more than 20 years of experience in healthcare. She holds a Medical Doctorate from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila, Bucharest, Romania, a licence as a Medical Doctor in Family Medicine, and a Master's degree in Medical Ultrasound from Bournemouth University. She is a longstanding member of ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography), APCA (Alliance of Physician Certification & Advancement), SOR (Society of Radiographers), and BMUS (British Medical Ultrasound Society).
Daniela's path into diagnostic ultrasound began immediately after graduating from medical school in 1997. Drawn to the precision of diagnostic imaging, she accepted an invitation from one of the leading ultrasound institutes in the United States to undertake a Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound Diploma, which she completed in 2001. Her postgraduate training included extensive internships at leading university hospitals and trauma centres across New York and New Jersey, where she was exposed to a wide spectrum of complex pathologies and clinical presentations.
Following qualification, Daniela was appointed as a diagnostic ultrasound instructor, teaching postgraduate students while holding concurrent clinical posts in university hospitals. At Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, she worked closely with vascular surgeons and academic clinicians, providing intraoperative ultrasound support during interventional procedures — a level of clinical collaboration that shaped her approach to precision-led diagnostic practice.
Between 2003 and 2011, Daniela completed four ARDMS accreditations from the United States: Obstetrics (2004), Abdomen and Small Parts (2005), Breast (2008), and Vascular Ultrasound (2010). In 2011, she relocated to the United Kingdom and joined the ultrasound team at Royal Free Hospital NHS Trust as an Advanced Practitioner Sonographer, performing and reporting across the full range of ultrasound examinations — abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, breast, vascular, musculoskeletal, and small parts.
In 2014, Daniela completed her MSc in Medical Ultrasound at Bournemouth University, earning more than 180 credits in musculoskeletal ultrasound and ultrasound-guided injections alone. That depth of specialist training underpins the breadth of services Sonoworld offers today, from complex MSK assessments and injection clinics to comprehensive vascular studies and full obstetric imaging.
At Sonoworld, Daniela brings the same standard of care she developed across NHS and American university hospital practice to every private patient appointment. Her approach is thorough, unhurried, and patient-centred — she explains findings clearly during the scan, answers questions directly, and ensures every report is detailed and clinically actionable.
