The private testicular ultrasound will examine the testes and scrotum. The scrotum or testicular sack contains the testes and the epididymi. It is very common for pain or lumps to developed within the scrotal sac. In most cases these lumps are benign and ultrasound is being used to confirm what the lump is. Other possible abnormalities within the scrotal sac are an absent or undescended testicle, inflammation, testicular torsion (twisted testis), fluid collection, enlarged blood vessels (varicoceles) or a mass (lump or a tumour), infertility. Our clients choose our private ultrasound clinic for their scan, as in most cases after they have seen their GP who recommended an NHS scan, they don’t want to wait up to 6+ weeks to be given an inflexible appointment.

The purpose of this testicular ultrasound is the evaluation of:

  • Testes
  • Scrotal sac
  • Epididymi

Reasons for having a testicular ultrasound scan:

  • Testicular lump
  • Testicular pain or ache
  • Swollen testes
  • History of infection
  • Discomfort
  • Varicocoele
  • Inflammation

Preparation for the testicular ultrasound scan

No preparation is necessary for this testicular ultrasound scan.

What should I expect during the testicular ultrasound?

Our sonographer will explain the procedure before the examination commences. You will be asked to lower your trousers and underwear to your knees and lie on the couch on your back. A small amount of gel will be applied to the scrotal sac and the transducer will be moved around the scrotum to obtain the images.
