Assessment of the common extensor tendon at the lateral epicondyle for tendinopathy, partial tears, and calcific deposits. Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) is the most common cause of lateral elbow pain and is accurately diagnosed with ultrasound.
Evaluation of the common flexor tendon at the medial epicondyle for tendinopathy and partial tears. Golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis) causes medial elbow pain and is often associated with ulnar nerve irritation.
Assessment of the ulnar nerve at the cubital tunnel (medial elbow) for enlargement, subluxation, and entrapment. Cubital tunnel syndrome is the second most common nerve entrapment after carpal tunnel syndrome.
