What is the Silver Health Screening Blood Test?

The Silver Health Screening Blood Test is a comprehensive diagnostic panel that measures over 40 distinct biomarkers. It provides a thorough health analysis by evaluating key markers across the main body systems, offering a clear picture of your current health status and future disease risk in one efficient and cost-effective assessment.

Your health depends on the complex interplay of many different organ systems, risk factors, and disease processes. Trying to predict future problems or explain vague symptoms with limited, disjointed testing is an exercise in frustration. Standard health screens often miss early warning signs that are detectable years before symptoms appear. Our Silver package is designed to identify problems in their beginning stages, when lifestyle interventions and risk-reducing medications can add decades of healthy life.

All samples are processed at an internationally renowned Harley Street laboratory that works with NHS trusts and major UK private hospitals. Your full laboratory results are provided directly to you, and you can discuss the findings with your own GP or specialist.

Who is this test for?

  • Health Conscious Individuals: Anyone seeking a comprehensive baseline of their current health status to optimise well-being and prevent future disease.
  • Family History Concerns: Those with a genetic predisposition to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or metabolic conditions who need a thorough investigation.
  • Unexplained Symptoms: Patients experiencing persistent fatigue, unexplained weight changes, or general malaise who require a broad diagnostic workup.
  • Proactive Prevention: Individuals wanting precise data on their nutrient status, organ function, and cardiovascular risk to guide targeted lifestyle changes.

What Does the Silver Package Test?

Five core clinical areas are covered, generating a detailed snapshot of your health. Each category is clinically curated to detect the conditions most likely to impact long-term health outcomes.

Cardiovascular & Metabolic

Heart Health & Diabetes Risk

Heart disease remains the leading cause of premature mortality. We investigate cardiovascular and metabolic function using advanced predictive markers that standard cholesterol tests miss entirely.

  • Advanced Lipids: Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, Apolipoproteins, Lp(a), and small LDL.
  • Diabetes Screening: HbA1c (average blood sugar over months) and fasting glucose.
  • Inflammation Markers: High-sensitivity CRP (hsCRP).
  • Risk Calculators: Results interpreted using advanced cardiovascular risk algorithms.
Organ Function

Kidney & Liver Evaluation

Silent damage to the kidneys and liver often goes undetected until late stages. We examine key parameters to identify organ injury in its earliest, most treatable phases.

  • Kidney Function: Creatinine, cystatin C (a highly sensitive early marker), and eGFR.
  • Liver Function: ALT, AST, GGT, albumin, and bilirubin.
  • Metabolic Syndrome: Assessment of risk factors including dyslipidaemia, elevated blood sugar, and organ stress markers.
Endocrine System

Hormone Balance Assessment

Hormone disorders increase with age and subtly shift body regulation patterns. We examine the thyroid system to detect dysregulation before overt symptoms develop.

  • Thyroid Profile: Comprehensive thyroid panel uncovering imbalances linked to cholesterol, heart rhythm, blood pressure, and mood.
Nutrition & Blood Health

Nutrient Status & Blood Count

Deficiencies in key nutrients increase the risk for anaemia, fatigue, dementia, and cardiovascular disease. We identify low levels to guide targeted supplementation and dietary changes.

  • Nutrient Status: Iron profile, Vitamin B12, and folate.
  • Full Blood Count: Anaemia and platelet analysis to assess haematological health.
Immune System & Cancer Markers

Immune Health & Cancer Screening

Systemic inflammation drives atherosclerosis, arthritis, and cognitive decline. We also include specific markers to assist early detection of common malignancies in asymptomatic stages.

  • Inflammation: CRP and ferritin markers to detect inflammatory changes in early, reversible stages.
  • Cancer Markers: Antigens associated with ovarian, prostate, liver, and other common cancers.

Why a 360-Degree Panel Matters

Most people only receive a simple cholesterol test for cardiovascular screening. The Silver package goes significantly further, evaluating genetic risk, circulating atherogenic particles, plaque formation, blood clotting tendencies, and inflammatory damage — all the primary drivers of heart attacks and strokes. Together with organ function, hormone, and cancer marker testing, the Silver package provides a comprehensive picture of your health that a standard GP check-up simply cannot match. Over 40 tests identify problems in their beginning stages, when interventions are most effective.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to fast before the Silver Health Screening Blood Test?

Yes. You should fast for 10–12 hours before your appointment. During the fasting period, you may drink water freely. Fasting is required to obtain accurate readings for glucose, HbA1c, lipid profiles, and other metabolic markers. Tea, coffee, and other drinks should be avoided as they can affect results.

How long does it take to receive my results?

Results are typically available within 5–7 working days. Once your sample has been analysed by the laboratory, your full results report is sent directly to you by email. You can then discuss the findings with your own GP or specialist.

Why is Lp(a) testing included in the Silver package?

Lipoprotein(a) — or Lp(a) — is a genetically determined lipid particle that significantly increases cardiovascular and stroke risk, yet it is not measured in a standard NHS cholesterol test. Research published in the Journal of Clinical Lipidology confirms Lp(a) as an independent, causal risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Including Lp(a) in the Silver package ensures that a critical cardiovascular risk factor is not missed.

What is the difference between the Silver and Gold packages?

The Silver package tests over 40 biomarkers covering cardiovascular, metabolic, kidney, liver, hormone, and immune health. The Gold package is our most exhaustive test, analysing over 150 biomarkers, and includes additional advanced testing such as a full reproductive and adrenal hormone panel, a more detailed immune system breakdown, and a broader range of metabolic and nutritional markers.

Can I combine this blood test with an ultrasound screening package?

Yes. The Silver Blood Test pairs particularly well with our ultrasound-based screening packages for a complete internal health assessment. Consider combining it with our Women's Full Body Screening or Men's Full Body Screening for a comprehensive picture of both your blood biomarkers and internal organ structure.

Is the Silver package suitable for both men and women?

Yes. The Silver package is designed for both men and women. The cardiovascular, metabolic, kidney, liver, and immune health panels are relevant to all adults. The thyroid and cancer marker panels are also applicable to both sexes. If you require a more detailed hormone assessment including reproductive hormones, the Gold package provides a full endocrine panel for both men and women.
