Other Cardiac Tests at Sonoworld

An echocardiogram shows heart structure and function. Rhythm is a different question and needs a different test.

ECG

A resting electrocardiogram records the heart’s electrical activity at a single moment, detecting rhythm abnormalities, conduction problems and signs of previous damage. About ECG

Holter monitor

A wearable monitor recording your rhythm continuously over 24 hours or longer — the right test for palpitations that come and go and would be missed by a resting ECG. About Holter monitoring

Cardiovascular Health Package — £699

Echocardiogram, ECG and carotid artery scan in one appointment, for a fuller picture of heart and stroke risk.

For ECG and Holter monitor pricing, call 020 3633 4902 or email info@sonoworld.co.uk.

Scans We Do Not Offer

Being clear about this saves you a wasted journey. Sonoworld performs standard resting transthoracic echocardiography only. If you need one of the tests below you will need a hospital cardiology department — and if your scan with us indicates it, our report will say so and recommend the referral.

Stress echocardiogram

Imaging the heart under exercise or drug-induced stress, used to assess suspected coronary artery disease. What a stress echo involves

Transoesophageal echo (TOE)

A probe passed into the oesophagus for a closer view of the valves and left atrial appendage, performed under sedation. What a TOE involves

Contrast echo & bubble study

An injected contrast agent to improve image quality or to look for a hole between the heart chambers. What a contrast echo involves

How Does the Cost Compare?

An NHS echocardiogram is free at the point of use. The trade-off is time, and whether you need a GP referral first.

If your GP has already referred you on an urgent cardiology pathway, stay on it. A private echo is most useful when you want an answer quickly, or when symptoms have been dismissed but have not gone away.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is £350 the total cost?

Yes. The £350 covers the scan, the consultant cardiologist’s time, instant verbal results, annotated images and a written report within 24 hours. There are no separate consultation, reporting or booking fees.

Does Sonoworld offer stress or TOE echocardiograms?

No. Sonoworld offers standard resting transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) only. Stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echo (TOE) and contrast studies require a hospital cardiology setting. If your scan indicates one of these, the report will say so and recommend the referral.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly online or by phone. If you already have a referral letter, bring it, because the clinical detail helps your cardiologist focus the examination.

How quickly will I get my results?

Your cardiologist talks you through the findings immediately after the scan. The written BSE-guideline report follows within 24 hours by secure email and can be sent directly to your GP or consultant.

Can I claim on private medical insurance?

We accept AXA Health, AXA Global, Healix and WPA. Check your policy for pre-authorisation requirements, as most insurers ask for a referral before they will settle a claim directly.

What if I need an ECG or a Holter monitor as well?

Both are available at Sonoworld and are separate tests from the echocardiogram. Call 020 3633 4902 or email info@sonoworld.co.uk for pricing and availability. The £699 Cardiovascular Health Package combines an echocardiogram, ECG and carotid scan in one appointment.
