About This Service

Why Private Health Screening Blood Tests?

Most serious chronic conditions — type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, thyroid dysfunction, vitamin deficiency, early kidney disease — develop silently over years before causing noticeable symptoms. A comprehensive blood test panel provides a detailed snapshot of your health across multiple organ systems, identifying risk factors and abnormalities before they become clinical problems.

Our three-tier screening packages are designed to match your health priorities and budget. Each package is processed by an accredited laboratory and reviewed by a clinician who provides personalised recommendations — not just a list of numbers. Results are available within 48 hours and can be shared with your GP or specialist.

Who should consider health screening blood tests?
  • Adults aged 35+ seeking a proactive health baseline.
  • Anyone with a family history of diabetes, heart disease, or cancer.
  • Patients experiencing unexplained fatigue, weight changes, or mood changes.
  • Those with elevated blood pressure or cholesterol on previous tests.
  • Anyone who has not had a comprehensive blood test in the past 12 months.
  • Patients seeking a second opinion or pre-operative health assessment.

What We Test

Key Biomarker Categories

Metabolic Health

Glucose, Insulin & Diabetes Risk

Fasting glucose, HbA1c (3-month average blood sugar), and insulin resistance markers identify pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes risk years before symptoms develop. Early identification allows lifestyle intervention to reverse the trajectory.

Cardiovascular Risk

Lipids, Inflammation & Arterial Health

Full lipid profile including LDL, HDL, triglycerides, and — in the Gold package — ApoB and Lp(a), which are stronger predictors of cardiovascular events than standard cholesterol. hsCRP measures systemic inflammation, an independent cardiovascular risk factor.

Hormone Health

Thyroid, Sex Hormones & Adrenal Function

Thyroid dysfunction affects 1 in 20 adults and is frequently missed by standard NHS checks. Sex hormone assessment (testosterone, oestradiol, FSH, LH) identifies hormonal imbalances causing fatigue, mood changes, libido changes, and fertility concerns.

Preparation

How to Prepare for Your Blood Test

For accurate results, please follow these instructions
  • Fast for 10–12 hours before your appointment (water is permitted and encouraged).
  • Continue all prescribed medications unless your GP has specifically advised otherwise.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours before the test (exercise elevates CK, LDH, and inflammatory markers).
  • Avoid alcohol for 48 hours before the test.
  • Wear a short-sleeved or loose-sleeved top for easy venous access.
  • Stay well hydrated — drink plenty of water on the morning of your test.
  • Bring a list of any current medications and supplements.
How It Works

What Happens at Your Health Screening Appointment

1Arrival & Brief Consultation

Our clinician takes a brief health history including your symptoms, risk factors, family history, and current medications. This ensures the results are interpreted in the context of your individual clinical picture.

2Blood Sample Collection

A trained phlebotomist collects your blood sample — typically 4–6 tubes depending on the package. The procedure takes approximately 10 minutes and is performed in a comfortable, private clinical room.

3Laboratory Analysis

Your sample is processed by an accredited laboratory. Results are typically available within 48 hours. All results are reviewed by a clinician before being released to you.

4Clinician Review & Personalised Report

Your results are reviewed by a clinician who provides a written report with personalised recommendations. Silver and Gold packages include a clinician consultation to discuss findings in detail and create an action plan.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a GP referral for a private health screening blood test?

No. You can self-refer directly online or by calling 020 3633 4902. No GP referral is required for any of our health screening packages.

How is this different from the NHS Health Check?

The NHS Health Check is a free check for adults aged 40–74 that covers basic cardiovascular risk markers. Our private packages are significantly more comprehensive — the Bronze package alone covers more biomarkers than a standard NHS Health Check, and the Gold package includes advanced markers such as ApoB, Lp(a), insulin resistance, and heavy metals that are not available through the NHS. Results are also reviewed by a clinician with personalised recommendations, rather than a standard letter.

How long does it take to receive my results?

Results are typically available within 48 hours of your blood test appointment. You will receive a notification when your clinician-reviewed report is ready. Silver and Gold package consultations are scheduled after results are received.

Which package should I choose?

The Bronze package is ideal for a first health screen or annual check. The Silver package is recommended for anyone with specific health concerns (fatigue, hormonal symptoms, cardiovascular risk factors) or anyone who wants a deeper assessment with a clinician consultation. The Gold package is our most comprehensive option and is recommended for those who want the fullest possible picture of their health, including advanced cardiovascular risk markers and a personalised health plan.

Can I add the health screening blood tests to a scan appointment?

Yes. Many patients combine a health screening blood test with one of our ultrasound screening packages — such as the Cardiovascular Screening Package — for a comprehensive same-day health assessment. Please call 020 3633 4902 to discuss combined appointments.
